I just want to start off by saying welcome to my page and if you’ve clicked on the about tab, it means you’re actually interested to know a little bit about me. I make no promises that you won’t be bored out of your mind, but none the less, you’ve clicked on the tab to arrive to this page and who am I to deprive you of your most deepest desire? So, here it goes.
I’ve been in love with movies for as long as I can remember. When I was eight or nine I would plead with my mom to let me watch every horror movie and I’d always win her over with the same argument, “but this one doesn’t have any nudity.” It was the thrill of being scared and the awe of how real these fictional monsters appeared that made me fall in love with cinema. While horror is my preferred genre, I certainly haven’t limited myself. Like any good film connoisseur- my way of saying nerd- I spread the wealth around and no matter way I’ll always have a spot in my heart for the story of a nearly incestuous farm boy with a greater destiny, the loveable, fedora wearing, snake-hating archaeologist and the double O agent with more gadgets than the Dark Knight himself.
My obsession continued to grow as I worked practically lived at the local movie theater and it carried over to my years at Indiana State. After graduating with a Radio-TV-Film degree I moved to Austin, Texas with a fellow movie connoisseur – nerd – to attempt to do anything that had to do with movies. Alas, while that venue didn’t work out, my dream of creating wonderfully nerdy things continues on. And don’t worry. While my love of movies is prevalent, I’m also a ravenous reader of comics and collect of many nerdy things. With the lack of truly nerdy kindred spirits I set out to create Nerd Says What? as place for myself to express my views on movies, comics, television, and toys and share them with others like myself. Isn’t that one of the most important things about being a nerd? I’m also an aspiring comic book writer with three project I’m currently churning out with the hope of one day being read by hundreds, even thousands of people.
To get a little sappy for a moment, I do want to say that I have a very beautiful wife, who doesn’t share many of my nerdy desires, supports me fully. She embraces who I really am and supports me in all of my ventures. I – or I guess I should say we – have two wonderful sons who I can’t wait to mold into future nerds. One of the happiest days of my life was watching Star Wars with my oldest son. Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. Well, that’s all that I have to say about myself. I’m quite positive that I lost most of you after the opening paragraph, but if you’ve made it this far you’re not only the bravest person I know. I hope you continue to come back to the site to converse with me and if you like what you see, feel free to tell your friends. You have my promise that I will always do my best to spread the good word of the nerd!
May the Nerd be with all of You,
